Get the Most From Your Monstera
Great nutrition works best when your Monstera's other needs are being met too.
Light
Give your Monstera plenty of bright, indirect light. Better light supports stronger growth and larger leaves.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the growing medium to dry appropriately before watering again.
Feed
Feed consistently during active growth. More fertilizer isn't better—consistency matters.
Support
Give climbing Monsteras support as they mature. Proper support can encourage more natural growth.
What should you expect?
Healthy Monstera growth comes from the combination of nutrition, light, water, healthy roots and time.
New Leaves
During active growth, healthy Monsteras regularly produce new foliage when their growing conditions are right.
Larger Growth
As your Monstera matures, good light, nutrition and climbing support can help encourage larger, more mature foliage.
Healthy Roots
Strong growth starts below the soil. Healthy roots allow your plant to efficiently take up water and nutrients.
Don't automatically add more fertilizer.
Slow growth can be caused by insufficient light, cool temperatures, watering issues, root problems, seasonality or other growing conditions. Check those factors before increasing your fertilizer rate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about feeding your Monstera with Lush.
How often should I use Lush Monstera Plant Food? +
Use the standard 10 mL per gallon rate every 7–14 days during active growth. Light, temperature, season and growth rate can affect how frequently your Monstera needs feeding.
Can I use Lush every time I water? +
For most Monsteras, follow the recommended 7–14 day feeding schedule rather than automatically fertilizing every time you water.
Can I use it on a young Monstera? +
Yes. For young plants or plants that don't require full-strength feeding, start with a lighter rate of 5 mL per gallon.
Can I use Lush after repotting? +
Yes. Newly repotted Monsteras may benefit from a lighter feeding while they establish. Start with 5 mL per gallon and return to the standard rate as active growth resumes.
Will fertilizer make my Monstera produce bigger leaves? +
Nutrition supports healthy growth, but leaf size is also strongly influenced by plant maturity, light, climbing support, root health and overall growing conditions. More fertilizer alone will not create larger leaves.
Why isn't my Monstera growing? +
Slow growth isn't always a fertilizer issue. Check light, watering, temperature, roots, growing medium and season before increasing your fertilizer rate.
Can I use this on other tropical plants? +
Lush Monstera Plant Food is formulated with Monstera in mind. For general indoor plants, we recommend Lush Houseplant Fertilizer.
